August 11, 2009 Taipei, Taiwan - Cypress Technology recently announced its latest entry to its line of video test pattern generators – the HDMI 1.3, HDCP 1.1, DVI 1.0 compliant CPHD-3. A cost effective solution to the verification, evaluation, optimization and demonstration of displays or other A/V devices, the CPHD-3 helps manufacturers of source and repeater products deliver HDMI v1.3 audio, video, and control interfaces into market faster and without interoperability issues.

Featuring state of the art design, the CPHD-3 generates video test patterns for evaluating and testing HDMI or single-link DVI displays and components. CPHD-3 can also generate and analyze 8-/10-/12-bit deep color videos. With its built-in 39 timings and 51 normal/adjustable patterns, it can output both analog and digital signals, providing over thousands of types of testing signals.

The testing patterns can be of different PC/HDTV timings (full range from VGA to UXGA/reduced-WUXGA, 480i to 1080p), color spaces (RGB444, YUV444, YUV422) or color depths (8bit, 10bit, 12bit).

CPHD-3 provides video pattern output through both HDMI/DVI (digital) or VGA D-Sub, and audio output through TOSlink, Coaxial, or 8-Channel RCA connectors. It also supports 3 types of audio test signals including a built-in sine wave tone generator, 2.1CH inputs, and an optical S/PDIF digital audio input. Internal LPCM channel supports 2CH, 5.1CH, 7.1CH selections.

Other than testing your devices, this video test pattern generator can also check the resolution of your devices, check bandwidth and phase behavior of video transmission, verify video amplifiers/color temperature/video motion plus HDCP verification, data comparison, EDID check and many more other useful functions.

On top of its user-friendly LCD display and LED indicators, the CPHD-3 can be conveniently controlled via the front panel buttons, the included Infrared Remote, and the RS-232 port (PC software). These controls allow selection of timings, patterns, color spaces, DVI/HDMI output, and audio signal type.
